American Battlegrounds Tour

Take your students on a tour to experience the battlegrounds that have shaped American history.  Your class will have an opportunity to study and explore some of the most historic battlefields such as Gettysburg and Manassas, as well as the memorials in D.C. for the fallen.

 

DAY 1 

  • Arrive in Washington D.C.
  • Guided Tour of Washington D.C.
    • War Memorials
    • Lincoln Memorial
    • Washington Monument
    • Jefferson Memorial
    • White House (photo stop)
  • Lunch
  • Visit the Smithsonian Museums
  • Museum of American History
  • Air and Space Museum
  • Dinner
  • See a show at Ford’s Theater
  • Hotel check in

 

DAY 2 

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Visit Arlington National Cemetery
  • Changing of the Guard
  • Lunch
  • Visit the National Archives
  • Visit the Library of Congress
  • Dinner Cruise on the Potomac River
  • Return to hotel

 

DAY 3 

  • Breakfast at hotel and check out
  • Travel to Mount Vernon, VA (30 min)
  • Visit George Washington’s Mansion and Historical Buildings
  • Lunch
  • Travel to Manassas, VA (45 min)
  • Guided Tour of Manassas State Park
  • Travel to Gettysburg, PA (2 hours)
  • Dinner
  • Hotel check in

 

DAY 4

  • Breakfast at hotel and checkout
  • Spend the day at Gettysburg
    • Visitors Center
    • Guided Walking tour of the Battlefield
  • Lunch in downtown Gettysburg
  • Depart for home
