A Desert Science Discovery Adventure

Explore the beauty of nature as you travel the best of the South West on a science student trip. Your students will experience the lights and sights of the Las Vegas Strip before they begin their exploration of the wonders of the American Southwest on their educational tour. The educational content will focus first on science and social studies as we explore the Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon, the Colorado River, as well as the lifestyle of the American-Indians that call this land home. We’ll continue to dive deeper into our study of science as we travel to Arizona science center in Phoenix and explore the Amazing Biosphere 2 in Tuscon.

DAY 1

• Arrive in Las Vegas, NV
• Visit the Hoover Dam in Boulder City, NV
• Dinner
• Evening driving tour of the Las Vegas Strip
• See a show at one of the many exciting theaters in Vegas!

DAY 2

• Breakfast at hotel
• Travel to the Grand Canyon West
• Lunch
• Tour of the Grand Canyon Skywalk
• Spend time with the Hualapai Native Americans
• Tour of authentic Native American village
• Live performances from local tribes
• Dinner at the Hualapai Ranch

DAY 3

• Breakfast at hotel
• Spend the day Whitewater Rafting in the Grand Canyon along the Colorado River
• Picnic lunch
• Local wildlife workshop
• Travel to Phoenix, AZ
• Dinner

DAY 4

• Breakfast at hotel
• Visit Western Destinations for Horseback riding, bow and arrow, jeep tours, hatchet throw, lasso, etc
• Picnic Lunch at Papago Park
• Visit the Desert Botanical Gardens for a guided tour and Native American Gardening workshop
• Dinner

DAY 5

• Breakfast at hotel
• Visit the Arizona Science Center- Workshop: Forces of Nature
• Lunch
• Travel to Tucson, AZ
• Free time and exploring in downtown Tucson
• Dinner

DAY 6

• Breakfast at hotel
• Visit Biosphere 2 for a Guided tour and On-going research projects workshop with University of Arizona scientists
• Lunch
• Depart for home
