Florida Nature and Wildlife STEM Tour

Your science students will enjoy this Florida Nature and Wildlife Tour outside of the confines of the classroom. This trip is filled with fun boat rides, snorkeling and educational activities at the Smithsonian Marine Station. Educators can highlight content from the classroom sites that expand on ecological processes, environmental issues, pollution, and land and water use.

 

DAY 1 

  • Arrive in Port St. Lucie, FL
  • Visit the Smithsonian Marine Station: Research Center & Ecosystems Exhibit
  • Lunch
  • Travel to Homestead Florida
  • Dinner
  • Workshop Seminar: The Nature & Wildlife of Southern Florida

DAY 2 

  • Breakfast
  • Swamp buggy tour of the Everglades
  • Lunch
  • Everglades National Park Boat tour
  • Dinner
  • Overnight stay in a traditional Seminole Chickee Hut

DAY 3 

  • Breakfast
  • Everglades nature walk and air-boat ride
  • Lunch
  • Travel to Key Largo
  • Take a tour of the Keys on a glass bottom boat
  • Dinner

 

DAY 4

  • Breakfast
  • Snorkeling tour of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park
  • Lunch
  • Bike tour of Bahia Honda Key Park
  • Return home
